Prepare for the CET examination by...- attending one of NESHTA's Designing and Delivering Effective Training workshops. These award-winning workshops are designed for persons who are already proficient in technical areas, but need training or review in adult training and education programs. The workshop is also offered by a number of member partners
- using the CET Program and Examination Guide, which contains the "Need-to-Know Criteria" for certification specialty areas
- attending adult training skills courses offered by colleges, universities, and other training skills vendors nationwide
- attending technical content and train-the-trainer workshops and seminars offered by universities and colleges, the EPA, OSHA, and training vendors across the nation
CET eligibility requirements are...- proof of eligibility, acquired through a minimum of eight years of experience or a combination of education and experience. At least two years must be direct experience in a relevant technical field
- a minimum of 270 hours in delivering education or training
- three professional references attesting to the applicant's skill as a trainer
- successful completion of the CET Instructional Technology test, plus one or more technical specialty test -- except recognition is provided in lieu of testing to holders of active CHMM, CHP, CHST, CIH, COHN, CSP, and OHST certification, NRRPT registration, and most state senior-level water and wastewater operator certifications.
